Join us at Tahoe Donner’s Alder Creek Adventure Center in Truckee, CA for adaptive equestrian lessons! Participants learn horsemanship and/or riding skills in an environment designed to fit their needs and learning styles and improve physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being for people of all abilities. Lessons may be limited to horsemanship skills only for certain disabilities, as determined by the on-site instruction team.

2022 Schedule & Rates

Four-Day Equestrian Camp

Learn horsemanship skills and make new friends over the course of 4 days at our Equestrian Camp!

Dates:  August 23 - 26
Time:  9 AM - 12 PM each day
Price:  $200 for 4 days
Location:  Alder Creek Adventure Center in Tahoe Donner

Half-Day Equestrian Sessions

Learn horse handling, horsemanship, and possibly horse riding at our half-day equestrian sessions tailored to your individual needs and learning style.

Dates:  August 27; September 1, 8, 10, 22, 24, and 29; October 1, 6, 8, and 13
Time:

  • Thursdays | 9 AM - 12 PM
  • Saturdays | 9 AM - 12 PM or 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Price:  $50 per half-day session
Location:  Alder Creek Adventure Center in Tahoe Donner

Policies

COVID-19 GUIDELINES

CANCELLATION POLICY: Please give notice of cancellation at least 24 hours in advance to receive an Achieve Tahoe credit, which can be used towards any future Achieve Tahoe Program.  

If you are sick, or feeling sick, please contact Achieve Tahoe to cancel your reservation as far in advance as possible, and before the start of the program. In the case of illness, you can either:

  • Request a credit, which can be used towards any future Achieve Tahoe Program
  • Request a refund, minus at 15% processing fee.

Essential Eligibility Criteria for Participation

For the health and safety of our community, in order to participate in the Achieve Tahoe Equestrian Program, a participant must meet the criteria listed below.

  • If the participant has had a traumatic injury, or surgery/medical treatments that affected your activities of daily living in the past 12 months, they can only participate with a doctor’s release stating that they have been cleared to participate in high-risk sports.
  • If help is needed with bladder or bowel routine, feeding tube, or administering prescription medications a care provider or family member will be present to assist.
  • Participant can be independent of supplemental oxygen for a sustained period of time at high elevation.
  • For participants with Down Syndrome, the participant must have been examined by a physician for Neurologic Symptoms of Atlantoaxial Instability, found the symptoms to be absent, and has been cleared to participate in high risk sports.
  • The minimum age for participation in the equestrian program is 5.

The equestrian program takes place at Tahoe Donner’s Alder Creek Adventure Center (15275 Alder Creek Rd, Truckee, CA 96161) in Truckee, CA.
